How Do Insurance Agents Get More Clients?

Insurance agents need clients in order to succeed and people need insurance coverage to be able to do the things they want to do with less risk. While many people will seek out insurance, it’s often up to insurance agents to find good leads in a saturated market.

At Prime Insurance Company, we want to see our partner insurance agents doing well. That is why we have put together this list of lead generation tips and ideas for insurance agents to get more clients. Remember, we’re always here to help!

Consider a Niche

Traditional insurance agents may not have to target their client search as finely, but they also have a lot of other agents with whom to compete. In the insurance world, focusing on a specific niche is an excellent way to stand out from others and access new leads.

Prime Insurance Company delivers options for insurance agents who are offering coverage for unusual or hard-to-place risks. Whether it’s AcroYoga or exotic pets, if it’s niche, it’s well worth talking to us about our product lines and how they can help you break into a new market.

Ask for Referrals

If you have never asked an existing client to recommend you to others, now is the time. People might not think of referring your insurance agent services to others unless you ask them, at which point they may be more than happy to do so. By telling your existing network that you are looking to expand, you will be reminding them that you’re open for business the next time the topic of insurance comes up with friends, family, or colleagues.

Insurance agents often see benefits from incentivizing referrals in some way, if that’s okay under your state’s regulations. Whether it’s a small gift, a coupon or gift card, or another token of appreciation, it is a way to encourage recommendations and referrals that build an insurance business.

You could even run a monthly giveaway or drawing for clients who have made referrals. This costs very little out of your pocket but can have a big payoff.

Market with Content

However you choose to create content — with blog posts and articles, for example, or with infographics and videos — using content it is a powerful way to bring in leads and convert them into clients. There is a lot to be said for the power of advertising. Online content marketing is a big part of today’s modern strategies.

The goal of content is to be informative, giving clients the information they actually need, while ensuring that the content is optimized for search engines so that prospective leads reach your site and reach out to you. If the content you create is compelling, interesting, and engaging, people will share it around the web and your reach can improve dramatically.

Social media is also key to content marketing. If you are not using it now, it’s time to get started by creating your own social media accounts and posting.

Your content still has to be engaging and interesting when it’s on social media. Stay away from jargon-rich subjects. Focus on a more creative, interesting approach, whether it’s giving more insight into the people who work at your office or sharing interesting success stories and customer testimonials. Whatever you decide to share, keep it consistent and be sure to interact with anyone who comments or engages with your posts.

Community Sponsorships and Events

If you show that you are invested in your community and its people, they are far more likely to be interested in what you have to offer. Community sponsorships go a long way in getting your name out in a valuable way, providing goodwill and exposure for your business.

It can also be helpful to create community events, alongside other trustworthy local businesses looking to grow. Whether you are hosting a community dinner, a seminar, a Prime Learning Session, or another promotional event, you can share more about what you do and how it can benefit those in attendance while ensuring that your name and contact information goes home with every attendee.

Link Up with Other Professionals

We’re not talking about networking here, though that’s always a good way to get leads. Instead, we’re talking about connecting with other professionals like real estate agents, who can recommend you to their clients for products like home insurance or life insurance.

If you know someone who sells planes, for example, ask them if they would be willing to refer their own customers to you for aviation insurance. About those exotic pets — your local exotic pet seller may be more than thrilled to provide his or her own clients with more information about risk protection via insurance. The list goes on, and all it takes is some research into who is working in the field you insure.

Even other insurance agents can be a valuable source for leads. Perhaps they do not offer insurance for a product line you cover, and vice versa; if you work together, you can refer business to one another, and make sure that each client is able to access the coverage they need.

At Prime Insurance Company, we strive for the cutting edge of the insurance industry, committed to finding new and effective ways to bring in leads and provide optimal coverage for everyone who needs it. Our experienced and qualified team is here to help you make the most of your client base and to give you the tools you need to provide coverage for those who may have been turned down in the past.
