Preparing your home for winter

Winter is here and harsh conditions can happen quickly. Help save yourself costly home repairs, and prepare your home against cold weather claims.

Frozen Pipes:

Frozen pipes can be a huge cost for homeowners. Before the cold weather kicks in, do your best to prevent freezing pipes. Learn where the water shut-off is, in case you need to turn off the water before a water leak or freeze. Also, American Red Cross recommends the following:

  • If there are water lines running through the garage, keep the garage door closed.
  • When it is very cold outside, let cold water drip from the faucet served by exposed pipes. This will help prevent the pipes from freezing.

Take preventative measures to not let your pipes freeze.

Hail Damage:

Hail is prevalent among many states in the United States. Although it is common, it is damaging hail that homeowner’s need to be aware of. It can be difficult to spot hail damage at times, but it is best to hire a professional after a heavy hail storm to double check your roof and home.

Tree Damage:

Heavy wind can cause trees branches to break or even a tree to fall on your home. Start preparing now for the unexpected and trim tree’s limbs that surround your home.

Don’t let the winter cost you an arm and leg. Make sure you are fully protected with homeowner’s insurance. Browse our website for more information: http://www.primeis.com/
